Jacob Zhimomi, an energetic, young and charismatic public leader, rose to his current position through his zeal and passion to serve the people of Nagaland. He is currently serving as Minister, Public Health Engineering Department (PHED) under Government of Nagaland. He is a member of the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP), the ruling party at the Centre. Ever since his entry into the political arena, he has been a much sought-after leader and his appeal encompasses all age groups and demographics. Realizing the importance of the internet in bringing about change and development, he is active on social media platforms to connect with the public and be constantly available for the people he serves. He holds regular meetings with the public and members of his constituency and always listens patiently to the public, their aspirations as well as their grievances. He has been involved in numerous developmental and progressive works and under his leadership, the people of Nagaland can look forward to more on the development front. He is a treasure to the people of Nagaland and the need of the hour is more young leaders to take over the mantle and take the state forward towards a progressive and prosperous future.

He is a simple man with interests in fishing, farming and reading. A true son of Nagaland, he always stays true to his roots and endeavors tirelessly to bring real development starting at the grassroots. Jacob Zhimomi was born on the 18^th of June, 1981 to Mr. Ihezhe Zhimomi and Mrs. Tozheli Zhimomi. He belongs to the Sumi tribe of Nagaland. He is happily married.

He is an alumnus of St. Stephen’s College, Delhi University; Modern Higher Secondary School, Faridabad, Haryana and Holy Cross School, Dimapur, Nagaland. After his education, he worked as a Unit Manager in Birla Sunlife Insurance at Kolkata till 2005.

As a young man eager to make a difference in the world, he got involved in community organizations after his stint in the private sector. He served as Chairman, Khagaboto GB’s Union from 2007-2009. He also held the post of General Secretary, Western Sumi GB’s Union from 2009-2012 under Dimapur district. He concurrently held the post of General Secretary, Western Sumi Hoho from 2010-2011 under Dimapur district.

From the rich experience he gained by being involved in societal organizations, Jacob Zhimomi entered politics and was elected to the 12^th Nagaland Legislative Assembly (2013-2018) contesting as an Independent candidate from 4-Ghaspani- 1 A/C under Dimapur district. During his tenure at the 12^th NLA, he held several portfolios and responsibilities. He served as Chairman, Development Authority of Nagaland (DAN), Government of Nagaland from July 2013 to May 2014. He next served as Parliamentary Secretary, Justice & Law from May 2014 to July 2016 . He was also the Parliamentary Secretary of Irrigation and Flood Control from July 2015 to July 2016. He then assumed responsibility as Advisor (Cabinet Minister rank) to Public Health Engineering Department (PHED), Government of Nagaland from December 2017 to January 2018. He is currently holding the portfolio of Minister, Public Health Engineering Department (PHED), Government of Nagaland, from March 2018 till date. Since his entry into politics, he has always been at the forefront for progress and development.
